Peter Shaffer, az Amadeus és az Equus szerzője kevéssel a szexuális forradalom előtt írta Black Comedy című bohózatát. Brian, a fiatal szobrászművész vendégségbe várja menyasszonyának katonatiszt édesapját, és ugyanezen az estén szeretné bemutatni alkotásait egy milliomos német műgyűjtőnek is.
